John M. "Mike" Ford died on 25th September 2006, much mourned by family, friends and admirers. He was a novelist, poet and wit, author of The Dragon Waiting, the poem 110 Stories and much else of real worth including two Star Trek novels, but he was so much more than that. He had a mercurial and inventive wit, improvising complex verse forms and devastating satirical putdowns with an ease that was sometimes scary. For some crucial Ford links go to Making Light.
"Well. Hugs parallel to all my prosy robots.
Remember me, forget death."
-- John M. Ford, from All Our Propagation: a Play for Instruments, from Speculative Engineering, mcmxcii, according to Elise's copy.
From Elise:
Welcome, everybody, no matter when you read this; welcome to this place, which is going to be somewhere to talk about him and his work. Whether you're a friend, a reader, an old gaming buddy, a colleague in any of the many ways possible, an admirer, somebody who would be an admirer if the stories didn't confuse the heck out of you, a seeker of footnotes, a poetry enthusiast, somebody doing a paper for school, or something else entirely, welcome.
